Bob Costas Slammed a Shot of Vodka On Air, Predicted His Own Demise

Libations, Media

“I’m looking at it this way — my eyes can’t get any redder, no matter what I do,” conjunctivitis-stricken Bob Costas told NBC Olympic contributor Mary Carillo Monday following a package about Russian vodka production. Then, as you can see in the short video, Costas slammed a shot of vodka with authority as an incredulous Carillo hesitated to follow the veteran’s lead.

Does Costas look like he messes around?  Don’t look to closely, though — pink eye is contagious.

“Tomorrow morning I’ll be laying on a curb in Minsk,” Costas quipped. Presumably due to the eye infection, not some hardcore boozing session finishing two hours northwest into Belarus, NBC announced in the morning that Matt Lauer will step in for Costas for its primetime Olympics coverage. Meantime, Costas will have time to wander through the Olympic village hazing impressionable journalists. DRINK IT!!!!

Conjunctivitis, commonly known as "pink eye," can be extremely contagious.  It can be either bacterial or viral.  The fact that Bob's case has persisted for several days, and that it readily spread to his other eye, very strongly suggests that he has viral "pink eye," that is, the kind that is caused by a virus.

Here is what WebMD says about viral "pinkeye:"

<blockquote>"This type of pinkeye often results from the viruses that cause a common cold. Just as a cold must run its course, so must this form of pinkeye, which usually lasts from four to seven days. Viral conjunctivitis can be highly contagious. Avoid contact with others and wash your hands frequently."</blockquote>

The fact that Bob Costas persisted in getting himself made up earlier in the week by staff after having obviously contracted the infection in his left eye, and that he is even now putting in an appearance on TV with Mary Carillo to try to make a joke about the problem, shows that he is either oblivious or downright inconsiderate of the health risk he poses to others.

Costas is a fool.

But being a leftist, all is forgiven.

So bobby, guns are bad but doing shots on TV is OK.

Idiot.

@AltBart Actually, you're the idiot. You're comparing the consumption of an ounce of alcohol to firearm laws.

@cleetusplease  Can you imagine the backlash if every time a troll posted a comment someone, anyone, gave a single f**k?
