Louisville’s Rick Pitino Looks Enraged Sitting Next To Son Who Wore Chicken Suit After Losing Bet

With an off day on his schedule, University of Louisville head coach Rick Pitino made his way to Minnesota, where he watched his eldest son, Richard, coach the Golden Gophers to a victory over the Indiana Hoosiers.

The six-point Minnesota win was quite thrilling, though Rick didn’t seem to be in the best of moods during the contest — possibly because he was stuck sitting next to his youngest son Ryan, who had apparently lost a bet and was forced to wear a chicken suit during the televised game.

Sports Illustrated‘s Seth Davis confirmed the news:

Could Rick look any unhappier? He was moments away from popping every blood vessel in his face.

I’m sure that was a pleasant car ride home.

How does one come up with the idea that he was ticked at his son for the chicken suit based on one picture?   I watched most of that game (yes, I have no life, I watched Minny-IU on Saturday night), and there were other shots of Rick and I would say he was more amused with Ryan than "enraged".

Is there any factual reason to connect Pitino's expression to his son's chicken suit, as opposed to his reacting to an unfavorable call or poor play?  Didn't journalism used to involve fact-checking, at least before the internet?

Awesome. Indiana overachieved last year and they are now back where they belong. Stinking up the Big 10 after letting Coach Knight go.

@frankdatank give the coach a break--how many teams can lose 2 lottery picks and not have a worse year?
