Canada Strong

Canadian Eugenie Bouchard earned the biggest win of her career on Tuesday when she defeated Ana Ivanovic in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open. But her best performance was the postmatch interview, in which she was asked about her dream date. After blushing and giggling, Bouchard admitted that it would be Justin Bieber. Of course, we at SI.com have known about this for months, ever since we pestered her about it in an interview last September. Here’s a quick excerpt.

SI.com: Name a celebrity you want to meet?
Bouchard: I’m going to go with Justin Bieber. He gets so much hate, but I like some of his songs. And I respect him because he came from nothing and he became this mega-superstar and he does have talent. I don’t know if you’ve seen his movie…

SI.com: I regret to inform you that I have not.
Bouchard: Honestly, people who didn’t really like him actually were amazed at the movie. You see videos of him playing drums when he was 2 years old, and how he really became what he is. He played guitar outside of Starbucks, just trying to play and make money, and he put videos on YouTube and then finally became something. And he’s Canadian, so I support him.

SI.com: What’s the most embarrassing song on your iPod?
Bouchard: I have a lot of those. [Long pause] Is Justin Bieber embarrassing?

The $1 Million Super Bowl Ticket

Frank Gore Keeps Commitments

Less than a day after his season ended, Niners running back Frank Gore signed autographs at Lefty’s Sports in Burlingame, Calif., yesterday despite the fact that his (signing) hand was broken.

Lovely Lady of the Day

I’ve had a crush on Jordana Brewster since I saw her in the made-for-TV movie The ’60s while in college. It’s been 15 years since then and she still looks spectacular.

Twitter Trash Talk

The official Twitter accounts of the Pacers and Blazers are already talking about playing each other in the Finals.

Kobe Being Kobe

Speaking of trash talk, Kobe Bryant announced yesterday that he won’t play in the 2016 Olympics but will attend as a spectator to “see Pau win another silver medal.”

As the NFL debates whether to abolish extra points, I thought it would be worthwhile to find a cool photo of an extra point. Unfortunately, not many exist but I was able to locate this November 1963 pic from a Bears-Packers game at Wrigley Field.

Odds and Ends

Carl Lewis claims that he was bullied by New Jersey governor Chris Christie … This is what Super Bowl tickets will look like this year … I’d definitely buy this shirt if I were a Detroit Lions fan …  Former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher was attacked by tennis balls Ken Burns is making a documentary about country music … Good to see Elaine Benes and Tim Whatley together after all these years.

Trick Shots of the Day

Oklahoma junior James Fraschilla (son of Fran) released another trick shots video. The proceeds will go to Hayden’s Hope, a foundation dedicated to raising awareness for pediatric organ donation and raising money to cover transplant-related expenses.

The Thrill of Victory

In Seattle, a bar full of Seahawks fan celebrate a trip to the Super Bowl.
