Olympic swimming star Ryan Lochte’s parents have had their home foreclosed on after failing to make payments on it for the last two years, according to Page Six.

Court documents show the Lochtes paid back only $16,000 of a $258,000 loan they received from CitiMortgage, and the bank took control of the Port Orange, Fla. home on Oct. 31 of last year and plans to sell it at auction.

Lochte is believed to have made millions in endorsements in connection with his 11 Olympic medals. He even starred in a reality series titled “What Would Ryan Lochte Do?” in 2013.

This article does not go into many details concerning this unfortunate incident, so rather than slamming Ryan for not coming to their aid, I'll let it go at that.  Having said that, if I had made millions since becoming a 'star' there would be no question in helping my parents out of their predicament no matter went down prior to it (assuming there might be an estrangement  between them). Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't they get this loan for his benefit?

Whoever put this hatchet job together, how about some context?  Maybe the parents are irresponsible deadbeats and don't deserve to be helped.

Sports media in a nutshell:

Run stories criticizing athletes for going bankrupt through bailing out and enabling relatives financially.

Run smears like this one criticizing athletes for not doing things that cause bankruptcy.

Sports "journalism":  no critical thought or consistency required.

So WHAT WOULD RYAN LOCHTE DO? -- Obviously not bail out his parents---

Why the smear piece on him?  Who cares if he made millions off his name at the Olympics, he is not responsible for his parents mortgage payments.

One thing Ryan Lochte would not do: co-sign.
