The Craziest (and Possibly Only) Handball Goal You Have Ever Seen

Video

Handball is not a terribly popular sport here in America, but we might want to give it another look after seeing this insane goal by Denmark’s Mikkel Hansen.

Hansen puts so much spin on to the ball that he scores despite throwing it away from the goal in the Danes 33-29 win over Austria in the European Handball Championships, which is probably a very important tournament.

Are these types of goals commonplace in team handball?

If they are, I’ll have to tune in to Thursday’s Denmark-Czech Republic game. I might even buy a Mikkel Hansen jersey. (Where can I buy a Mikkel Hansen jersey?)

Handball is a great OLYMPIC team sport and should definitely be promoted and played more in the US! There are teams in most major cities on East AND West coast (New York, Dc, Boston, Seattle, LA, Phoenix, Las Vegas, San Fransisco, Portland,...) but most are struggling even to find enough players. So go and check this amazing sport out in the US, wherever you live!!! This type of goal happens often on an INTERNATIONAL level and a bit under, but is just one way of the big arsenal of fun ways to score a goal.

Yeah its pretty common, but thats not the craziest handball goal ever, try searching for Anja Andersen goal, she did a right crazy one back in the days :)

YOu can see handball mostly anywhere in US and Canada. And some players are able to do spins :p

The biggest club in USA is New York City Team Handball Club (Check their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/NYCTeamHandballClub). They hosted the Big Apple Tournament in December 28th and 29th : https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=596850877035723.

In Canada, you can see club such Club de Handball Celtique de Montréal. (here is their facebook page : https://www.facebook.com/HandballClubCeltiqueDeMontreal). They are also hosting a big international tournament for Canadian Thanksgiving, US Columbus day). So if you want to see team handball in North America, you defenitly can!

And also try youtube it, the so calles best goals vidios, is well what can I see, proberly just some very good goals, if you look at it, you can also see, the videos are made of fans, and they tend to not have vidio from all places where handball is placed, and are mostly from Germany the bigges leage in the world, and their local leages like spain and croatia, but otherwise from that, its very difficult to say whats the best goal, even in a single match, be course there are to many, and if you have to go to best ever goals, there are also many to choose from, its the nature of the game, but try take a look at this women, she played in the 90es where womens handball, was not so good as today, but still today she would have been the worlds best, so thats the reason why she could make such goals, and then also her personality was to it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kKqeaHajU5U

Yes very common, depens on what you think is spectacular, but you will proberly see more spectacular goals then that one, take it from a dane who has seen countless matches, and played for 4 years. Hope you will enjoy the match if you see it. Its a fast high scoring dynamic fysical game.

@BoiZen Hehe yes unfortunatly he is injered this time for us in Denmark, on penalty he is class, but also otherwise, I would say that spin is not so normal, be course of the small angle hes got, to get the goal in, world class, but you can find many spectacular goals i think, its the nature of the game :).

@EmilRaschAnja Andersen is the best handball player of all times. When she played for the national team Denmark. They won everything, world champions, European champions and Olympic champions. She has been named best handball player in the world twice

@JesperRasmussen That's not a common goal. Putting spin in your shot is pretty common. But not this kind of spin. Few people is able to do this, considering the amount of pressure being put on Hansen before he shoots. So def not at common goal.

And dont tell me you done this yourself. Maybe you are able to put spin in your shot, but not like this, at all.

@scallisen @EmilRasch She was also a raving sociopath with no civil features whatsoever. And to compare AA with Mikkel Hansen is to compare the best Lada ever with a Mercedes SLS AMG.

@scallisen @EmilRasch I agree :). But i dont think she would have made, as many of the goals in the link, if it was today, but cant say :).

@Kneppekongen4000 @JesperRasmussen I agree with Jesper, its not at all uncommen to make spin all the way down to junior handball, but in no way at the surcomstanses with Mikkel hansen here, i think he meant he just made spin himself, but cant talk for him :).

@ZachoN @JesperRasmussen There are many wayes, to make spectacular goals, spin or no spin, about 5 % of goals in handball, is in the catogory I would put that goal in. :). But of course its alwayes a matter of taste.

@thebattler@scallisen@EmilRaschAt the time some commentars said that some of the goals she made was only possible in the lady sports because of the speed and power difference,

but from that time she inspired new types of goals, manuevers and innovation, also in the male sport, showing it was possible. For me that's her greatest contribution, with courage and determination to try things many other people didn't dare. In that way she advanced the game beyond just her own abilities and enriched and improved the game/sport.
