The Boston Globe reported today on a terrible ailment plaguing Patriots fans who’ve been subjected to repeated Patriots playoffs appearances: “playoffs fatigue.” Symptoms include lack of a desire to attend postseason games, decreased levels of excitement about the playoffs, and a “been there, done that” attitude, causing a significant drop off in ticket prices at Gillette Stadium. From the Globe:

“I know what it’s like at Gillette when the fans are high-fiving each other,” said Ramsey A. Bahrawy, an attorney in North Andover who’s decidedly not going to Saturday’s game.  “I don’t want to go and be disappointed. I’d rather watch on my [50-inch] TV at home.”

“I can’t justify it,” said North End resident Patrick Clunan. “I don’t want to spend $300 or $400 to watch a game they may very well lose. I’d rather see Justin Timberlake and Jay Z. I know I won’t freeze — or go home disappointed.”

For reference, tickets are going for as low as $86 right now. Meanwhile, fans of fellow AFC East-ers Buffalo Bills have not witnessed a playoffs game since 1999. Who knows how long this suffering will last for Patriots fans. Tom Brady is 36, so it’ll probably be another 3-4 years of distressing playoffs appearances.
