Adam Laroche Kills and Carries Mountain Lion Over His Back, is All That is Man

Whenever I want to unwind after a long day, I like to sit on the couch and play some video games.

Apparently Washington Nationals first baseman Adam LaRoche prefers slightly more rustic entertainment.

Nature: You’ve been warned.

It’s no secret that LaRoche is (clearly) big into hunting — some of his favorite hunting partners include Matt Light of the Patriots as well as Willie and Jep Roberts, who star on Duck Dynasty.

And for those wondering, it is legal to hunt Mountain Lions in several states.

Apparently some boys still have to kill something for no reason at all to feel like a man. What a coward.

I don't get the thrill of the hunt... you have a weapon, aren't you supposed to "win"?  What is "awesome" about the ability to shoot an unarmed animal from a safe distance?  Shouldn't most healthy, coordinated people be able to shoot an animal this large?  I'd really like to get a better understanding of this thinking.

simply awesome...

So just how many of you hypocrites enjoyed steak, pork, chicken or fish for breakfast, lunch or dinner this week? Were any of those animals killed fairly? Absolutely not, each one had been slaughtered at processing plant or factory!! Also the Slaughtered-processed animal that you enjoy at your dinner table has never seen the open wild. You can't enjoy factory slaughter meats because there's not an image of a hunter in camo carry it out of the woods, but in the same breath claim those who do hunt are disgusting mindless groups of neanderthals. HYPOCRITES!!!!

Awesome kill Adam.  Mountain lion meet is actually really good when prepared correctly.  People do not realize that a lot of areas in the USA need to be thinned of mountain lions since there are too many.  People hunt them all the time in ID but they are hard to kill since they are so elusive.  With a bow is even more impressive.

Agree with Krogan42...kill it fairly, bare handed. Make it a fair fight.

Any one who hunts animals is a coward.

If he killed with his bare hands, I'm impressed.

Otherwise . . . not so much . . .

@incognito33 The "thrill of the hunt" is being able to eat the animals after harvesting them.  I hunt, and I hope you can trust me when I say I do not like ending the life of that animal, rather, I enjoy eating them.  Each deer I have shot stays with me, and it is my worst fear to wound an animal and not end its life in the most painless way I can.

When the alternative for that animal is most likely being hit by a car or starving due to the over-population where I hunt at, I can enjoy that meat.

@badflounder says the guy hiding behind the internet to make ignorant assumptions.

I bet you also ate a cheeseburger today too... eating meat and not acknowledging where it came from or how it got you your plate, and not being able to take an animal from life to your plate is cowardly.

@cornersssI bet so.  Mountain Lion isn't too bad, when cooked correctly.  Plus it is the law to eat all edible portions of what you kill.

@boilerman86 @incognito33 While I don't agree with anybody shooting mountain lions, they do have far superior senses and the gun does not even level the playing field. Put the two in an octagon, okay, but not out there.

@MattMitchell @badflounder im gonna go out on a limb and say he didnt eat this mountain lion, which makes it a stupid senseless kill. laroche isnt big and bad because he killed something from a hundred yards away with a very advanced bow

RandyMoran

@boilerman86@natethegreat@MattMitchell@badflounder Whatever. 30 yards, 100 yards...it doesn't change the point that what LaRoche did requires no real skill and certainly no particular bravery. I could teach pretty much any reasonably healthy person to hit a target with a bow at close range. And in the case of mountain lions, usually they are treed by a pack of dogs and killed at the hunter's leisure. How's that for "going out on a limb?"

pretzelboy_josh
pretzelboy_josh

@natethegreat I'm gonna go not very far out on a limb, because I don't have to, and say that you have no idea what you are talking about.

@natethegreat @MattMitchell @badflounder 100 yds away?  You obviously have no idea about hunting, as a 100yd kill shot with a bow is a physics improbability.  The arrow wouldn't have enough energy left to penetrate the hide, let alone kill the animal.  More than likely, the max range is 40yds (obviously without knowing his exact equipment I am making a general assumption here).

While I don't necessarily agree with predator hunting, if he is in an area where mountain lions are over-populated and legal, I won't fault him.

Sounds good, until you accept the reality that humans are the overpopulated species that has and continues to overtake the habitats of most other land animals. Humans claim land to create suburbs, then wild animals are to blame for crossing our paths and disrupting our domestic lifestyles? I'm not buying it.

MattMitchell

@ArashArabasadi @pretzelboy_josh @unhombrelobo oh its cool, we could just not control their population and let them invade suburbian populations where you no doubt are from and let them eat your pets and small children becuase its a fact that there isnt much an overpopulated starving animal wont eat.

The reality is, that wont happen because of guys like LaRoche but its cool man just remain ignorant to the world around you.
