Damian Lillard Insults Female Fan on Twitter for Complimenting Him

Maybe Damian Lillard was in a bad mood following his Portland Trailblazers’ loss to the Miami Heat on Saturday night, but his tweet (note: it’s since been deleted, but I can confirm it did indeed come from his account) is totally uncalled for.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not even one of those guys who preach the high-road — I’m all for athletes and public figures defending themselves against unruly fans in most cases — but this female tweeter, named Angelique, wasn’t even insulting Lillard. If anything she was giving him a compliment!

Come on, Dame.

Not exactly an insult, but she did clearly imply that Lillard isn't handsome enough for her tastes.

Lillard had the right to respond in turn.  Which he did.

If Moochiiie didn't want to get embarrassed by a celebrity disparaging her on twitter, she shouldn't have started it.  Twitter works both ways.

She did to insult him and too bad. She should shut up

I think when a compliment is qualified with "I don't like ____", it ceases to be a compliment.

@MatricesAbsolutely correct.  You should take Mr. "Sin's" place writing as you're ten times as perceptive.

@Matrices Actually, no. You can say you don't like someone but still give them a compliment. For example, I think Kanye West is an egomaniac, but I think he's made some really brilliant records.

You can say she gave him a backhanded compliment, but it was still a compliment. And @positivewins, I wouldn't talk if I were you, man.

@leehwgoc Actually, no. Saying you're "don't like someone" doesn't take away from the fact that "he looks much better in person" is a compliment. It might a hard logic to grasp, but you can not be a fan of someone and still give them a compliment. English is English, the second part of her tweet was a compliment. Trust me, I'd know, I'm a "dork", Leehom Wang.

You can bend over backward trying to justify yourself with weak rationalizations, but you're still wrong.

Quit posting or concede the point like a man, you dork.
