Iron Bowl-Winning Football Worth $50,000 Has Been Recovered by Auburn

Alabama v Auburn

After Chris Davis returned Alabama’s missed field goal for 109 yards for an Auburn victory, the Tigers faithful stormed the field. The game-winning football got lost in the scrum, presumed gone forever or en route to an auction house.

Fortuitously for Auburn, however, the ball — which was marked for identification — was presented to athletic director Jay Jacobs by a ball boy who fetched it during the chaos.

That’s solid hustle, but even greater selflessness. According to Bloomberg, sports memorabilia auctioneer Brandon Steiner valued the ball at $100,000 if Auburn wins the national championship and said it’s worth $50,000 right now.

I value the ball as equal to a "box of chocolates."

It's actually Alabama's football, as they were on offense when the play began.  Each team brings their own football to the field when on offense.

I am wonder if the ball boy is also the water boy?  Now dat's some good H20.
