The Lineup: Monday, October 28
What you should be watching tonight.
Maybe rice is the wrong diet. Send any suggestions to SI.TheLineup@gmail.com. (Bold indicates a national broadcast. All times Eastern.)
- Baseball uniforms are the epitome of low fashion, so argues Alex Williams of the New York Times.
- The New York Post has a killer collection of true stories from the fake world of professional wrestling.
- The World Series obstruction call provided a redefining moment for Jim Joyce, who, until Saturday, was to be remembered for missing an historic call.
World Series Boston Red Sox vs. St. Louis Cardinals, 8:15p.m (Fox)
I’m sure I’m not the only one pointing out the irony of a Boston franchise having a huge game decided by the accurate implication of a rarely exercised rule. Yeah, I’m sure I’m not the only one.
Seattle Seahawks vs. St. Louis Rams, 8:30p.m. (ESPN)
Has there ever been a greater discrepancy between a two games held in the same city on the same night? The superstar lineup of household names like Kellen Clemens, Zac Stacy, and Chris Givens doesn’t exactly draw a lot of attention. A 15 minute walk stretches many, many miles in relevancy.
Dallas vs. Buffalo, 7:00p.m.
Pittsburgh vs. Carolina, 7:00p.m.
Montreal vs. New York Rangers, 7:30p.m. (NBC Sports)
Chicago vs. Minnesota, 8:00p.m.
Washington vs. Vancouver, 10:00p.m.
BNP Paribas Masters, 2:30p.m. (ESPN3)
Manuel Avila vs. Jose Angel Cota, 10:00p.m. (Fox Sports 1)
Avila was initially scheduled to face Jose Silveira tonight, but Silveira withdrew for unknown (or at least un-googleable) reasons. Of his fighter’s new opponent, Avila’s trainer said, “We have no film and know nothing about him.” Always good to be prepared.
Under-17 World Cup
Japan vs. Sweden, 8:48a.m. (ESPN3)
Italy vs. Mexico, 8:48a.m. (ESPN3)
Honduras vs. Uzbekistan, 11:48a.m. (ESPN3)
Brazil vs. Russia, 11:48a.m. (ESPN3)
If you look up the words “mosquito” and “Brazil” you might be surprised that the search results will not contain advice for avoiding malaria near the Amazon. Rather, you will be led to information on the young Brazilian soccer star named Mosquito, who was involved in four of his team’s six goals against Slovenia. Get ready for a lot of terrible bug puns at the 2022 World Cup.

Calvin Pace, New York Jets Linebacker, 33
Terrell Davis, Former NFL Running Back, 41
