Soccer Player Gets Death Threats After Injuring One Direction Singer in Charity Game
A charity soccer match to honor Stiliyan Petrov, the former Aston Villa captain who retired after being diagnosed with leukemia, turned a bit ugly on Sunday when current Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor chased after a loose ball and, in the process, tackled Louis Tomlinson, a singer in the boy band One Direction.
After Tomlinson injured his knee and vomited on the sidelines, fans took to Twitter to hurl death threats, which were quite inflammatory and racist — even by standards previously set by tweenage girls.
Here are a few of the more benign tweets:
My whole timeline is full of pictures of Louis getting hurt. I’m going to kill that guy!!!!!!!! HOW DARE YOU HURT LOUIS?!
