Bovada has the full list of NFL team totals for the 2013 season. According to the site, the top seven teams that the public is on for overs are Carolina, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Arizona, Chicago, Kansas City and New Orleans. The top seven teams the public is on to go under are Oakland, the Jets, Minnesota, Buffalo, Atlanta, Houston, and the Giants. Here are my six best bets.
Ravens over 8.5 (-115): I don’t care about offense, defense, special teams or anything else. Their over/under number is just flat-out disrespectful to a Super Bowl champion that still has Joe Flacco and Ray Rice. I know they lost a lot of players on defense, but you can’t convince me that Baltimore won’t get to nine wins. The Ravens’ schedule is far from difficult, too.
Patriots over 11 (+110): I think the losses of Wes Welker and Aaron Hernandez will hurt, and who knows about the health of Gronk. But 11 wins, when you play six games against the Jets, Bills and Dolphins, should not be difficult. The key to New England getting over 11 will be the stretch from Sept. 29 until Oct. 13 when it plays at Atlanta, at Cincinnati and vs. New Orleans.
Colts over 8.5 (EVEN): This will be my adopted team this year. I’m all in on Andrew Luck. I like the addition of Ahmad Bradshaw in the backfield and I think Darrius Heyward-Bey is a guy who will flourish after going from a cesspool in Oakland to Luck throwing him the ball.
Rams under 7.5 (EVEN): Everyone keeps waiting for Sam Bradford to emerge as a top quarterback, but it never happens. A bigger factor than that, though, is the fact that they have a BRUTAL schedule. There is a chance they only win four or five games.
Jets under 6.5 (-200): Rex Ryan is on his way out. Geno Smith is not ready to start, but he is. Their receivers are putrid. There isn’t a non-Jets fan in the country who can name their tight end. They have out-of-the-division road games at Atlanta, Cincinnati, Baltimore. The New York media is after them in a big way, and trust me, that’s a factor. Good luck getting to seven wins.
Bucs under 7.5 (+110): Plain and simple: I’m not a believer in Josh Freeman. Tough division, as well, plus they play the Patriots, Seahawks and 49ers. Ouch.
