Cowboys’ punter hits scoreboard with punt, Bengals return re-kick for touchdown

Uncategorized

When Jerry World opened, there was wailing and gnashing of teeth over the potential of a punt hitting the scoreboard. After the Titans’ A.J. Trepasso hit the the world’s biggest electronic phallic stand-in, there was concern this would be a constant problem.

Like most things in the preseason, it didn’t really matter and punters haven’t had a problem with the behemoth video board since then.

That is, until Saturday night when the Cowboys’ own punter, Chris Jones, hit it. By rule, it’s a dead ball and necessitates a re-kick. In glorious Cowboys fashion, the re-kick resulted in a 75-yard punt return for a touchdown by Bengals’ receiver Brandon Tate.

Everything is bigger in Texas… even especially the screw-ups.

Hey Jerry....nice work!  I hope this happens to your team a lot this year.  Nothing is going to bring down your huge ego, but hopefully it will cost your team a couple of games.  The NFL should never have allowed something that low to the playing field....hand time is a huge part of the punt, and if the punter has to worry about hitting it, it gives the Cowboys an unfair advantage....unfair in that the Cowboys play there 8 times a year and know how to handle the issue more than a team just coming in for one game.

Ok, the article is about the Cowboys punter hitting the scoreboard and the re-kick results in a Bengals touchdown.  The video shows a Titans punter hitting the scoreboard like 3 years ago.  Great job!!

Hey lets make the video of something that is barely related to the story.

Am I the only one who does not give 1 sh1t about preseason?

It's not an issue for directional kickers who aim for the sidelines like they're supposed to.  And they raised the board after the Titans' kicker incident ... it cost a fortune but they still raised it!

@TexasBorn Especially something that happened 3 years ago.  I mean, Wade Phillips is still coaching the Cowboys and Jeff Fisher is still coaching the Titans.  Not sure why this was even posted like it happened today
