Consider this your Lonely Planet: Airwaves edition. (All times Eastern)

Starter

Tennis Wimbledon: Gentlemen’s Quarterfinals, coverage begins at 7:00a.m. (ESPN & ESPN3)
Andy Murray put a scare into everyone by nearly dropping his quarterfinal match against Fernando Verdasco, and got some curious questions from a BBC Reporter afterward. I think I speak for the general sporting public when I say that we’ve all learned enough new names in this tournament. Let’s at least have some level of familiarity going forward. I have no intention of educating myself on who Jerzy Janowicz is.

Reserves

Soccer USA vs. Guatamala, 11:00p.m. (NBC Sports Network & NBC Sports Live Extra)
USA soccer has been rolling lately with four straight wins. To be honest, not earning a spot in the Confederations Cup has helped the current streak. Josie Altidore has scored in each of those wins and shows signs of becoming an elite striker, prompting my suggestion for the team’s new nickname: Josie and the Pussycats.

Basketball FIBA U19 World Championship, coverage begins 7:15a.m. (ESPN3)
Fans of Arizona, Baylor, Duke, Illinios, Kentucky, Kansas, Michigan State and Ohio State should be very interested in this tournament. The US under-19 team is headlined by Jahlil Okafor, the #1 ranked junior in the nation, who has yet to declare, but has narrowed his list to those 8 teams. Watch the Americans cruise to victory and hope Okafor is doing this in your team’s uniform in 2014.

Boxing Friday Night Fights: Allan Green vs. Eleider Alvarez, 9:00p.m. (ESPN2)
The exciting co-headliners of tonight’s event, which features a pair of compelling match-ups between title contenders, would be enough of a reason to watch. But the real draw is the fact that this is the first event hosted by 50 Cent’s promotions company and serves as a 38th birthday party for the rapper. I’m pretty sure I know which brand of rum will be stocked at the bar, though enthusiasm might be tempered by Mr. Jackson’s recent legal troubles.

Cycling Tour De France: Stage 7, 8:00a.m (NBC Sorts Network)
Saboteur! Two members of Team Sky have accused spectators of placing tacks onto the course which caused punctures in their tires. Race rule allow for mechanical stoppages, so the riders didn’t lose any time. Though one of them, Geraint Thomas,  was upset about having to restart again because of the pain caused by the fact that he’s RACING WITH A CRACKED PELVIS.

NASCAR Subway Firecracker 250 at Daytona, 7:30p.m. (ESPN)
NASCAR’s most famous track just finished a redesign of its crowd safety features to help prevent injuries to spectators like the ones from this crash in February.

Here’s hoping the mayhem stays where people, for better or worse, want to see it: On the track.

Deep Bench

Outdoor Stihl Timbersports Midwest College Regional, 6:30p.m. (ESPNU)
Axing, sawing, and other manly-manliness will be on display. These guys are experts in all things lumberjack. Certainly more adept than this unskilled gentleman.
