The scene at the Blackhawks championship parade today in Chicago was pretty impressive as you can see by the photo above. Goaltender Corey Crawford stole the show thanks to his short, expletive-filled speech.

Give It A Rest, Doc

We covered the Doc Rivers-Bill Simmons feud in today’s A.M. Hot Clicks, but there have been two new developments. Simmons responded to the attack by Rivers’ son with this funny Tweet, while Rivers continued to rip Simmons and questioned whether Simmons was qualified to cover the NBA, which just made Rivers look like a fool.

Doc's right.  Simmons was way out of line with his comments.

Doc handled it poorly, but Simmons has no business stating flatly that Doc quit on his team.  First of all, it makes no sense because it's the off season so what exactly is he not doing that he should be doing, and secondly, it's a cheap shot to take without having any kind of fact to back it up.

Would it be okay for Simmons to slander him in some other way, by saying he's a woman beater or a drug addict?  Of course not, and "quitter" in the sports world is looked at as the worst thing you can be.

Even if Simmons had said "I think Doc quit on his team" or "I wonder if Doc quit on his team" it would have been over the line but to state it matter of factly, honestly, should result in a suspension for Simmons.  If I were Doc Rivers I wouldn't be giving any interviews or providing any access to ESPN until I got an apology.

But then again, this is ESPN.  They employ Ray Lewis and Bobby Knight as analysts, so Simmons has nothing to worry about unless he criticizes ESPN itself.

Sorry J, only person looking like a fool is you for defending that egomaniac hack Simmons.
