Ten Things You Might Not Know About Florida Gulf Coast University
Fun facts about America's newest Cinderella (who's only 16!)
Florida Gulf Coast stunned Georgetown on Friday in the NCAA tournament, becoming just the seventh No. 15 seed to defeat a No. 2 since the field expanded in 1985. Here are 10 things you might not know about the Fort Myers, Fla., school.
1. Every player on the team is older than Florida Gulf Coast University itself.
While the school was founded in 1991 on more than 700 acres of restored wetlands, the first student wasn’t accepted until 1997.

2. It’s only been a Divison I program for six years.
And this is just the second year it was even eligible to play in the NCAA tournament.
3. They pulled off one of the best alley-oops in tournament history.
Obviously that’s subjective, but really. Brett Comer could have played it safe with FGCU leading by seven with two minutes remaining, but instead he bounced an alley-oop pass off the backboard which Chase Fieler threw down with one hand.

4. They already have haters!
No, really, check it out!

5. The coach, Andy Enfield, left a cushy job at a Wall Street firm that’s now worth over $100 million because he was determined to be a head coach.
The startup software contract management company he launched was worth nine figures when he opted out.

6. And he set the NCAA career record for free-throw percentage (.925) while at Johns Hopkins.
Enfield missed just 25 foul shots throughout his entire collegiate career and graduated as the program’s all-time leading scorer.
7. (Oh, and he’s got a supermodel wife.)
Enfield is married to Amanda Marcum, a model who has appeared in Elle, Maxim and Vogue, and featured in ads for Victoria’s Secret and Armani. They met in 2003, had their first date at Taco Bell, and Enfield proposed eight months later by hiding the ring between two Krispy Kreme donuts concealed inside the box.
8. There’s a lot of wildlife on campus.
Wild boar, bobcats, alligators and snakes can been spotted on campus, which includes more than 400 acres of carefully restored and preserved wetlands.

9. Like everyone else on the planet, FGSU’s students did a Harlem Shake vid.
Because of course they did.
10. Lil Wayne is a fan.
And why wouldn’t he be?
How kome Florida Gulf Coast didn't have any plays on Sportscenter top ten plays?!! 1 of those lobs should've made it!—

If you think it's an easy school to graduate from then your have another thing coming. Business school is really tough, especially the Finance/Economics department. I can see you Alyssa couldn't make it.
What's FGSU?
As listed in the "10 things you did not know about FGCU," WE ALREADY HAVE HATERS!!!!! =)
I went to this school for two years and it was every form of awful you could imagine. Dumb teachers and students who never teach/learn anything and give you 25% of your grade based on attendance. Typically I wouldn't complain, but I sort of wanted to learn something while I wasted my time there.
Props to the coach on that wife, damn!
FGCU - Also, in the spirit of being gender neutral (something the "University" no doubt requires) shouldn't the use of the word "Man" be replaced by "People"? Yes it should! Come on, FGCU get your act together.
Also - Little Wayne Weezy - what is with the use of the word "kome"? Wayne, you are already a certified idiot. Stop doing everything you can to prove your idiocy by intentionally (I hope) misspelling words. Little Wayne - you are a tool, and you stink!
To Florida Gulf Coast University - On your sign about the warning about Alligators, please note that you should have used "any (space) way" (two words). "Anyway" is incorrect as used on your University sign. Of course it's on sign at a public University in Florida, so nobody noticed. It's as if the movie "Idiocracy" is more accurate than anybody knew. (It's easy to spot those who attended public schools)!
@John4 Everyone there is dumb so it doesn't shock me at all.
@John4 Is it easy to spot them because they capitalize the word university for no reason?
@RobSchuman Oh, good one.
This school apparently is just a stones throw away from South Harmon Institute of Technology lol
Anyone else notice that alligator sign that says "it is against the university and state law to feed, MOLEST, or entice alligators in any way" - come on Florida, stop raping alligators
I'm a fan of Amanda
