What to watch for over the next week in sports and pop culture

Uncategorized

Extra Mustard’s weekly guide on what to watch for in movies, TV, music, books, websites, games and pop culture at large over the next seven days.

1. Justin Timberlake on Saturday Night Live

The actor/pop star/comedian never disappoints on SNLD–k in a Box and Motherlover, anyone? — and he’s back for a fifth appearance as host and musical guest on Saturday (NBC, 11:30 p.m. ET).

2. South by Southwest

If you’re not heading down to Austin this week for the March Madness of film and music — it kicks off today – follow the action online, seek out music from one of this year’s performing bands or watch something from last year’s festival at home.

The Wolf Pack is back for a third and final go-round and the trailer, which dropped earlier this week, is certain to have PETA up in arms.

The final day of college basketball’s regular season ends with a dandy: No. 2 Indiana at No. 7 Michigan in a Sunday afternoon sizzler (4 p.m. ET, CBS).

7. Mila Kunis in Oz The Great and Powerful

The big-budget Wizard of Oz prequel starring the 29-year-old heartthrob is in theaters today. But if the mixed reviews scare you off, skip it and watch Kunis charm the hell out of a rookie BBC reporter.

8. God of War: Ascension

The seventh installment in the action-adventure video game series — and the first to feature an online multiplayer mode — is out for PlayStation 3 on Tuesday.

9. Mark Cuban (and Jerry Seinfeld) on Leno

The irreverent Dallas Mavericks owner drops by The Tonight Show on Wednesday (11:30 p.m. ET, NBC) along with the eminent New York comedian.

10. Spring Breakers

A hyperviolent movie about a drug-fueled crime spree from the subversive mind behind Kids and Gummo that puts Disney Channel starlets Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens on the same screen as Gucci Mane? We can’t wait to see Harmony Korine’s latest when it opens in limited release on Friday.
