The Face Of Fox Sports 1
When you’re starting a network to challenge the behemoth known as the Worldwide Leader, clearly there is only one man to call on: Regis Philbin. Fox announced yesterday that the 81-year-old TV veteran will host a daily show starting in August for the new Fox Sports 1. Obviously this seems like an unorthodox hire, but I can’t say I’m not intrigued. There are a lot of horrible sports shows on the air right now and sports cable networks with horrendous ratings, so I give Fox kudos for trying something different. Having said all that, I can still enjoy some of the snickering about the Philbin hire, such as this amusing piece on “leaked” segments for Regis’ new show.
When NBA Superstars Tweet
The Lakers gave up 71 points in the first half of their 122-105 loss against the Thunder last night (which put L.A. under .500.) Oklahoma City also tied an NBA record with just two turnovers in the game. Afterward, Kobe Bryant took to Twitter and shared his thoughts on the defeat by quoting one of the more popular comedies in recent years. Clippers forward Blake Griffin also used Twitter yesterday to address Thunder forward Serge Ibaka‘s cheapshot to his groin region.
